Speed sensor FGL 01620

How does the speed sensor work?

The speed sensor FGL 01620 from HORN can be used both at extremely low speed, and almost full stop can be detected, and it is also applicable for highspeed rotations up to 20kHz frequency. It is a preferred sensor for offshore and marine purposes because of its vigorous stainless-steel design.

The sensor detects ferromagnetic materials such as gear wheels and can handle modules of one and up to six.

The permitted system distance between the sensor and the gearwheel (see the technical specifications here) is bigger than average for air gaps. Thus, in combination with the fine thread pitch of 1 mm. a simple installation is secured.

The sensor signal is highly stable because of the differential measurement principle, and the square-wave signal voltage is available through a push-pull output stage.

Additionally, there is a smart sensor option available because even though the FGL01620 has been designed as a basic measuring unit it offers optional functions to be integrated such as temperature and/ or vibration sensing.

The Attributes of the Output Signal

With the single channel sensor, the output shows the rotational speed as a single-track frequency signal.

The Cable type KGS03252-xx

The cable, KGS03252-xx is a Flexible, silicone- and halogen-free control cable with high mechanical strength.

KGS03252-xx is highly resistant to chemicals, hydrolysis, oil, diesel oil, and microbes.

Moreover, it is possible to get great EMC properties because of the shielded version, which is available for this cable.

The KGS03252-xx also complies with the UL and CSA (UL 10493/20549; cULus) requirements.

All can be developed and produced according to your specific needs and wishes. So, if you need to use the FGL01620 in a safety-level environment (SIL-level required) this is also available.

Additionally, there is a smart sensor option available because even though the FGL01620 has been designed as a basic measuring unit it offers optional functions to be integrated such as temperature and/ or vibration sensing.

Moreover, different applicable products are available with this sensor like portable tachometers, speed indicators, and programmable converters for limit and alert settings.
