1. Preparation
Before starting, ensure you have:
- A new CR1225 coin cell battery
- A suitable screwdriver for the lid screws
- Access to the master unit where the BilgMon 488 is installed
For best results, replace the battery within a few hours after removal to avoid RTC time loss.
2. Step-by-Step Battery Replacement Procedure
Step 1: Disconnect the Power
Turn off the BilgMon 488 and disconnect it from the power supply to ensure safe handling.
Step 2: Remove the Master Unit Lid
- Loosen the four corner screws securing the lid.
- Carefully lift off the lid to access the battery on its underside.
Step 3: Remove the Old Battery
- Locate the CR1225 battery on the inside of the lid.
- Gently press the metal retaining clip holding the battery in place.
- Slide the battery out of the socket.
Step 4: Insert the New Battery
- Insert the new CR1225 battery into the socket with the correct polarity.
- Install the battery promptly—preferably within a few hours—to ensure the RTC continues running.
Step 5: Reassemble the Unit
- Reattach the lid to the master unit.
- Tighten the four corner screws.
- Reconnect power and verify that the unit starts normally.
3. Post-Replacement Check
When the unit powers up, the RTC should operate without any error messages. If the RTC alarm persists, contact technical support for further assistance.
