Parkers Fuel Density Meter

Density Meter

The Parker Kittiwake Density Meter can be used for both distillate and residual fuel oils. This equipment use hydrometers to measure the density of fuel, thus, the Density Meter can be used to confirm the quantity as well as he grade of the fuel you get delivered for your vessel. So, you get a fast and reliable device to accurately confirm the exact bunker delivery.

The key features that will benefit you includes:

  • Accuracy like laboratory testing
  • Verification that it is the correct grate of fuel
  • Fast and accurate results.

On-site fast and accurate testing

Along with viscosity, the density of marine fuels is one of the main parameters that can be used to identify and confirm quality of a fuel. Checking the density of a fuel prior to or at the beginning of a bunker operation, could therefor be a crucial aid in determining if the delivered fuel is according to the agreed quality and specifications.

The Marine Fuel Density Meter FG-K1-300-KW from Parker Kittiwake is:

  • Compact
  • Cost effective
  • Efficient.

Thus, the perfect tool for measuring density of all conventional marine fuel types on board. By measuring the fuel oil density in kg/m3 at 50°C with its built-in heating feature, it provides a measurement with no further need for calculations or conversions.

Robust and reliable

The main advantages and benefits you wil get with the Density Meter from Parker Kittiwake includes:

  • Ensure the correct weight og fuel has been delivered
  • Fast, accurate results for multiple oil parameters
  • Make informed onsite maintenance decisions
  • Act before the onset of critical failure
  • Robust and reliable in harsh or remote environments.

Moreover, the density meter is as accurate as any laboratory testing, as well as it can fast and accurately verify that it is the correct grade of fuel that you got delivered.

Easy to use and get results within 10 minutes

The equipment is designed to be used by the crew on-board of the vessel, and the test itself is completed within 10 minutes1. An immediate re-test of an already heated sample for confirmation of results, will take no more than 30 seconds.

Furthermore, the FG-K1-300-KW performs according to ASTM D-1298 and IP160.

If it is required to measure the density of highly viscous fuels, a measurement at 70°C is also an option with this instrument. As standard, the FG-K1-300-KW also provides CCAI2, which is density in vacuum and viscosity conversions.

1Based on a fuel sample of 15°C
2Calculated Carbon Aromatic Index

Note: The Density meter is not suitable for use with any fuel with a low flash point temperature, and must not be used for heating any liquids other than diesel or residual fuel oils.

Detect out-of-spec fuels and lubricants

You can test on-site, at the point of use, which makes it possible for you, the engineers and the crew on-board of the vessel to conduct oil analysis quickly and easily. By detecting the out-of-spec fuels or lubricants you can identify potential problems before you damage any of your equipment.

This means that you can:

  • Secure the correct weight of fuel is delivered
  • Rapid and accurate results for multiple oil parameters
  • Make informed on-site maintenance decisions
  • Act before any onset of failure (even critical ones)
  • Vigorous and reliable in both harsh or remote environments.

Thus, you can protect your assets, while you improve your productivity and increase your uptime because you can use this regular on-board oil analysis.
