Distance sensor IW00016

The distance sensor IW00016 from Horn is composed of a metallic housing that contains the sensor components and, in some cases, the electronic components. This design ensures mechanical durability and prevents interference from external circuits.

To achieve a high signal-to-noise ratio the sensor uses different parts, where each measurement task requires a distinct measurement principle, including:

  • Compatible output levels
  • Shielded cables
  • Plug connectors.

Distance Sensor IW00016

The fundamental configuration bears resemblance to the inductive oscillator pulse sensor variant FGL 13/....

However, in contrast to said sensor, alterations in the levels of the oscillator yield an analog output signal ranging from 4 – 20 mA or 0.5 V to 4.5 V, rather than a switching signal.

The output signal exhibits proportionality to the measured distance, specifically within the range of 2 - 6 mm.

This sensor is well-suited for distance measurement in challenging environments and have garnered approvals from classification societies.
