Magnetic Field Sensor FGL01612

The FGL01612 from HORN is a sensor used for measuring magnetic fields. The sensor is used in combination with two other devices: the pulse amplifier (EV299013) and the magnet (MG003272).

Thus, the Magnetic sensor is consisting of the following three parts:

  • Pulse amplifier, EV299013
  • Sensor, FGL01612
  • Magnet, MG003272.

Proper function of the sensor

For proper operation, it is essential that the tube, tube clamps, and fastening screws are crafted from materials that are not magnetic. It is crucial to ensure that these materials do not acquire magnetism during the manufacturing process, such as during welding. If magnetization does occur, demagnetization should be performed afterward.

The pulse amplifier is specifically designed to be installed in the control cabinet using 35 mm DIN EN rails. It features a relay output, and the activation of the relay is indicated by a red LED when a seam is detected. The green LED serves as an indicator for the operating voltage.

To guarantee reliable functionality, a single sensor should be utilized for pipe diameters up to 300 mm, whereas larger pipe diameters require the use of two sensors. If two sensors are employed, they must be positioned diametrically and connected to the two inputs of the pulse amplifier accordingly.

The Sensitivity of Sensor FGL01612

If necessary, the sensor's sensitivity can be adjusted to match the installation conditions. To accomplish this, the sensor's cover needs to be taken off. The sensitivity can then be modified using the adjusting screw located on the potentiometer labeled as "Sensitivity".

The Packing of the Magnetic Field Sensor

The Magnetic Field Sensor set is packed in a foil bag consisting of:

  • 1 pc. sensor type FGL01612
  • 1 pc. Magnetic stirring rod type MG003272

In a separate packing, you find the pulse amplifier type EV299013.

An example of usage

The integration of the three devices: The sensor FGL01612, the pulse amplifier EV299013, and the magnet MG003272 can be used in the detection of seams on dyeing machines.

By securely attaching a magnet to the fabric web's seam, it becomes feasible to ascertain the fabric web's revolutions utilizing the aforementioned devices.

Band clamps are utilized to affix one or two sensors onto the flow tube of the dyeing machine.

However, the usage of the magnetic field sensor is not restricted to this use. The magnetic sensors can be used for different measuring tasks, like speed measurement, which is a large part of HORN sensors.

Fur­ther­more, magnetic field sensors are used for mo­tion detection in a very universal way.
