Real-time detection of up to 7 gases
The DetectiveIQ monitors up to 7 gases simultaneously with T90 response times under 20 seconds. Modular sensor trays support a wide range of sensor types - electrochemical, IR, MPS™, pellistor, PID, and long-life O₂ - and are swappable in the field with minimal tools.

Industry-leading battery life
Over 101 days in diffusion mode for MPS/TOX/O₂ configurations - meaning the DetectiveIQ can be deployed for the duration of an extended shutdown without battery management becoming an operational concern. PID configurations achieve 20 days in diffusion mode; pump mode configurations 15 days (pellistor) and 9 days (with PID).

Bluetooth® Mesh - fenceline and perimeter monitoring
Up to 25 DetectiveIQ units can be interconnected via Bluetooth® Mesh for fenceline deployment and perimeter monitoring - providing coordinated area coverage across a large temporary worksite without fixed infrastructure.

Optional pump module - 30 m sampling reach
The optional pump module extends gas sampling reach to 30 metres, allowing the DetectiveIQ to monitor remote or hard-to-access locations from a safe distance - relevant for confined space pre-entry atmosphere testing and remote hazard point monitoring.

Effortless serviceability
Minimal screws and parts simplify field servicing. The outer casing, boot, and handle are replaceable, and pull-in/pull-out sensor trays allow rapid sensor changes with reduced downtime. 6-monthly calibration intervals minimise routine maintenance requirements.

Rugged construction - floats
IP66 and IP68 rated. Floats. Operating range -20°C to +55°C. Built from ASA and Pebax materials for durability in demanding outdoor and industrial environments.

Area Monitoring for Shutdowns, Turnarounds, and Temporary Worksites

Fixed gas detection systems protect permanent installations. But some of the most hazardous gas detection scenarios occur in temporary, dynamic, or variable environments - turnaround and shutdown operations, maintenance in confined spaces, hot work permit procedures, and temporary construction or demolition activities within industrial facilities.

In these environments, fixed systems either are not present or do not cover the temporary hazard zone created by the work activity. Workers rely on personal detectors for individual protection, but personal detectors do not provide area coverage - they alarm when the wearer is personally exposed, not when gas is present in the broader workspace.

The DetectiveIQ fills this gap. Deployed at the perimeter of a temporary worksite or at hazard points within a confined space entry operation, it provides continuous area monitoring for up to 7 gases regardless of worker position. Its 101-day battery runtime in diffusion mode covers extended shutdowns without recharging, and its IP66/IP68 rating and floating capability make it suitable for wet, outdoor, and marine environments where standard equipment would fail.

For operations on offshore platforms, vessels in dry dock, or industrial facilities undergoing major maintenance, the DetectiveIQ provides the area coverage layer that personal detectors alone cannot replicate.

Personal Detectors vs Area Monitors - Understanding When You Need Both

A complete portable gas detection programme for hazardous work operations typically requires both personal detectors and area monitors - and understanding the distinction is important for specifying the right equipment.

Personal detectors (UnoIQ, DuoIQ, Gas Pro, T4, T4x) - worn by individual workers. Protect the wearer from personal exposure. Do not provide coverage for the broader work area or for other workers nearby. Essential for all workers entering a hazardous area.

Area monitors (DetectiveIQ) - deployed at fixed points within a temporary worksite. Provide continuous coverage of a defined area regardless of worker position. Alarm when gas is detected in the zone - protecting all workers present, not just the individual wearing a detector. Essential for confined space entry operations, shutdown and turnaround work, and any operation where multiple workers enter and exit a hazardous space over an extended period.

For confined space entry specifically, best practice - and the requirement under most flag state, class society, and industrial safety frameworks - is to test the atmosphere before entry using a portable detector with a pump or aspirator, then monitor continuously during the work activity using both personal detectors on workers and an area monitor at the entry point.
